Best Bloody Mary’s in America

Whether it’s breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, there is one drink you can always depend on that will get you through any occasion – a Bloody Mary. From the traditional drink to a custom-made cocktail there are options galore so finding the right one to suit your taste buds can be a challenge. Here are some of the best you’ll find in America which might help lead you in the right direction while on your ultimate Bloody Mary search.

The Attic – Long Beach, CA

These days you must make something spectacular to be considered worthy of the phenomenon that has become the Bloody Mary. This outrageous recipe comes complete with bacon-infused vodka, jalapeño tabasco, and a special house mix. That is merely the beginning of this concoction. Now let’s talk about garnishes. This drink offers olives stuffed with blue cheese, Slim Jim jalapeño, and a garlic clove. There’s also bacon, baby back ribs, shrimp, short ribs, a waffle corner, pickled egg, radish, green beans, okra and asparagus, pickles, pepper jack cube, mozzarella, lemon, lime, cherry tomato and basil. Yes, it would seem that if you order a Bloody Mary here you can skip lunch and dinner. And possibly breakfast the next day.

Sobelman’s – Milwaukee, WI

How about some fried chicken with your Bloody Mary? And when I say with your Bloody Mary, I mean literally with your Bloody Mary. This pub and grill serves their Bloody Marys in gigantic gallon-sized jars and includes a feast for meat lovers. The “Chicken Fried” is only one variation of Sobelman’s “Beast” Bloody Mary’s which are over 80 ounces and are intended to be split between four people. They feature cheeseburger sliders, and Baconadoes (Bacon-wrapped jalapeño cheese ball skewers). If you opt for the “Chicken Fried” Bloody Mary, your drink comes complete with a whole four-pound chicken. Be prepared, their regular “Bloody Beasts” will run you $40 and the “Chicken Fried” costs $50 but it’s worth every penny.

Star Bar – Austin, TX

Deep in the heart of Texas, this location offers up something called “The Hail Mary.” This delicious drink contains a hotdog, hickory smoked bacon, garlic shrimp, onion rings, a slider, two chicken nuggets, crabmeat, deviled eggs, pickled okra, cheese, pepperoni, cherry tomatoes, and a cinnamon roll. Oh, and did I mention alcohol. It also contains alcohol. Having earned the reputation as one of the best Bloody Marys in the country, if you are ever in Austin Texas this is one stop you cannot pass up.

Sunda – Chicago, IL

Just when you think you’ve heard it all you haven’t. Meet the “Sumo Mary.” This drink is known as the quintessential cocktail. Made in a 32-ounce mason jar, this wild concoction is garnished with three strips of bacon, half a grilled cheese and tocino sandwich, a duck bao, braised pork belly, a crab sushi roll, a lumpia stick, stalks of Chinese broccoli, pickled daikon radish, roasted potatoes, and shishito peppers. If you are a Bloody Mary enthusiast this is one drink/meal that seems to “out-crazy” some of the best Bloody Marys in the world.

Buffalo & Bergen – Washington, DC

The “lox’d & loaded” might be just the thing you would expect to find when coming to the East Coast. This spicy cocktail begins its journey with some spectacular seasoning and an incredible mixture. With “everything” spices, black pepper, horseradish, celery seed and tabasco mixed with vodka and lemon juice, you’ve already got what sounds like a winning combination. Now for the cherry on top… Excuse me I mean the bagel. That’s right, this drink comes garnished with a New York style bagel (baked fresh daily) that comes complete with cream cheese and the traditional lox straight from New York. Just in case that’s not enough, a swirl stick of bacon is offered as well.

Hattie’s Hat – Seattle, Washington

With several Bloody Mary options on the menu, from classic, which comes with pickled pepper, pickled okra, and an olive to the Rosemary, which comes garnished with well – an entire sprig of rosemary, there is no shortage of Bloody Mary choices on the menu here. However, it’s their Smoked Salmon Mary that has garnered quite the praise. This seafood-inspired treat contains Alaska Distillery’s Smoked Salmon Vodka which is sure to have you feeling right at home while you’re in the Pacific Northwest.

Today the quest for a good Bloody Mary is a very real thing and the battle to be the best inspires some pretty remarkable creativity. Whatever you prefer, make sure you try as many as possible before you decide on your favorite. Cheers!
